Barcelona ~ Part Two

It was easy to get used to this view every morning...

Each morning we would all wake up leisurely with the sun.  No alarms, no agendas.

We would share a pot of coffee or two, have a light breakfast of yogurt and fruit or toast and jam and gradually take turns showering and get ready for the day.

Our plans for the day were to just walk around and see what we see...

Someone (quite possibly me) suggested the Mercat Santa Catarina.  I had read about truffle eggs at Mercat Santa Catarina and I was hoping I could find some for us to try!  I, more or less, discreetly began my hunt.  In the mean time, we got an eye full of all of this ridiculously fresh seafood!

^^ Freaking scary - that does not look edible!

I love, LOVE markets!  Grocery shopping is actually one of my favorite things so I was having a ball looking at all the things I could buy to eat!  Imagine what it would be like to live in Barcelona and shop here every week...  Just look at those luscious, plump tomatoes!  I'm a total weirdo and bought a couple to bring back for a snack later.  Simple and delicious!

Lots of sweet treats!  Florentines, wine and berries!

At last we found the truffle eggs!

These are just regular chicken eggs that are stored with truffles to take on the rich flavor.  I carefully cradled the two eggs for the rest of the day, feeling like Kolya from City of Thieves, which is an excellent book that I need to read again soon!

The eggs survived the rest of the day with me and I fried them up when we got home.  They were tasty!  There was definitely a hint of truffle but it wasn't very strong.  I'm a big fan of fried eggs so I'm not sure if was the truffle or the success of the hunt that made these eggs, but either way this was going to go well for me :)

After the market, we ventured a little further to see Casa Batllo.

And just down the street, Gaudí's Casa Mila, also known as La Pedrera.

^^  Andy was my boyfriend here, such a long time ago!

Later in the afternoon, we headed back to our apartment, swapped out shorts for swimsuits and walked to the beach Nova Mar Bella just down the street.

I can't get enough of baby Daniel pictures!  Like I said, he loved to walk around and see what was going on...

Andy and I, on the other hand, were content sunning on a blanket.  We walked around a lot earlier!

We lounged a bit longer then went back to get ready to go out for dinner.  But first, a glass of cheap and delicious wine on our balcony ;)
