Banana LBD & Bigalora - Ann Arbor

I love Fridays.  It can be so tempting to just head home after a long work week, tuck in with a bottle of wine and the hubs, then catch up with our DVR... buuut, with the (sometimes) warmer weather, Andy and I have been trying to save that lounge-fest for Sunday nights instead!  While we're not ready to go STR, we've been making a bit more of an effort to get out to do something.  Last week, we made dinner plans to catch up with some of our east side friends...

I took this opportunity to wear my new LBD - the long black dress, I'm not 21 anymore, ya know - that I scored from Banana Republic a few weeks (on sale here).  The length makes this dress a little more interesting and allows me to wear this body con dress out to dinner without feeling over exposed!  The stretchy jersey fabric makes it comfortable and while it is form fitting it didn't squeeze me at all.

I also finally got to wear my favorite sandals!  Get them here, also on sale....do you sense a trend??  I'm seriously tempted to order them in black too...

If you follow me on Instagram (@charlielbl) you'll see that our favorite spot to grab a cocktail on Friday nights is Aventura.  We both like the La Rambla - which is essentially a manhattan made with the best kind of sweet vermouth, punt e mes - and we like the pintxo, Manchego y Jamón, and tapa,  Croqueta de Jamón.

After quickly enjoying our snacks and drinks, we headed over to Bigalora to have dinner with our friends Mike and Melissa...

We managed to snag a nice table on the new patio!

^^ Roasted carrots with balsamic glaze, goat cheese and peanuts (like the one at Sava's!)

^^ A simple arugula salad with grana padano and lemon oil - SO tasty, one of my favorite salads and super easy to recreate at home....

^^ Every time I get pizza at Bigalora, I have high hopes.  It LOOKS like it is going to be out of this world tasty but it is always so bland!  We ordered the Chicken Pesto Genovese because I think it is impossible to go wrong with pesto.  Unfortunately I was wrong.  Bland again.  How?!

^^ Fontina Stuffed Gnocchi Marinara

Despite bland pizza, I'm sure we will be back to Bigalora again soon - the location is perfect for meeting up with our east side friends and the pretty patio is a major selling point when downtown patios get packed before I'm even out of work!

This weekend we are going to finish staining our deck on Saturday and then check out the Detroit Electronic Music Festival on Sunday - only two more days of work to go!  Do you have any exciting plans your itching to get to this weekend?
